Zach and Aubrey started soccer for the first time this last Saturday. Kim didn't bring her camera and I forgot mine so the only pics I got were from my phone. Unfortunately, they didn't turn out too well but I didn't want them to go unrecognized.
Aubrey's is the team in red and Zach's is the green team. It was raining for most of Aubrey's game and about half of Zachs but we had a good time anyway. Although they technically don't keep score, they both one their games.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away.

I'm busier now than ever!
Now that I am unemployed, I seem to be busier now, more than when I was working all day long. I go more places and definately get more done and can't imagine working a full time job again. Honestly, I really don't want to get another job. I am going to try to swing things in my direction. Brent likes having dinner ready for him when he gets home but I don't know if that will be enough to pursuade him into living on a tighter budget. The only problem I have is that with me going more places, running more errands, I have to drive my car. Before, I drove my car about once a week, down to the store and back and only had to fill up the tank every 8 weeks or so. So far, I am at 4 weeks now between fill ups. Yes, I don't travel far outside my area. If I can't find what I need in Sandy or Draper, I will just do without...unless I can find it on the internet or QVC and have it delivered (but that takes planning ahead, which I sometimes am too impatient for)Back to my point about my car... I want a new one. I have had my Firebird for 13 years now. It still looks and drives like new and only has 81000 miles on it but Brent won't let me sell it. We also have a jeep wrangler sitting in our garage that he refuses to sell. It runs but is not licensed so I can't drive that. I am getting too old for my firebird. It's so low to the ground and the doors are so big that I need lots of room to open them up to get in and out of the car. Brent won't even get in it anymore but he says we cannot justify buying a new one for me because I don't drive enough. And now being unemployed, I couldn't afford it anyway. We could if we sold both the firebird and jeep though but I don't see that happening anytime soon. They will both just end up rotting away until they are worth nothing. Even antiques are worthless if they are all rusted out.
Shhhh, Don't tell her mommy!

Before and After
So, with the exception of some minor touches and the window dressings, my kitchen is DONE. That's right, after 10 weeks, I have a kitchen again; and my dream kitchen to boot. This was all a labor of love, through blood, sweat and frustrations. I personally sanded and stained each and every cabinet, crown molding, stair rail and balustrade in there. I tore up about 2/3 of the old flooring all by myself with Brent helping on the other 1/3. Brent and Jenny did the priming and painting and Brent and I laid and nailed in each and every plank on the new floor. I have to give credit to my wonderful brother Glen as well because without him, we would never have been able to do this. Glen did all the "behind the scenes" construction as well as some finishing touches such as the crown molding above the cabinets. BEFORE
AFTER
And for those of you that remember what my mother said before each meal:
For those of you that don't know Dutch, it's the same thing as "Bon Apatite"

Happy Easter
Happy Easter everyone!
This year, I'm too busy to think much about Easter. We are to the finishing touches stages in the kitchen and my stove is still not working yet. Yesterday, we didn't get much of anything accomplished so today, it's work, work, work. I want my kitchen usable by tomorrow, although I think only the microwave will be installed.
Every year on Easter, I think back to when I was growing up. Our Easter Basket consisted of some little thing like jelly beans and a chocolate bunny in our cereal bowl. My mom would put a little of the grass stuff in there to make it look like an Easter basket. I never thought anything of it until I started to get a bit older and saw that my friends had real baskets. Then when I told my mom I wanted a real basket, that year I got a teeny tiny basket with a little blue stuffed bunny in it. Aside from the basket, we ALWAYS got an outfit for church, complete with the bonnet, white gloves and little purse. We have home movies of many Easters but little if any pictures. Unfortunately, the home movies are no longer viewable because the tapes have deteriorated beyond the point of putting them on a dvd. This picture is when I was about 13. I was past the white gloves and bonnet stage at this point and "smocks" were the style.
Tell me about your Easter memories. Please post a comment on what you remember most or what traditions you liked the most.

Countertops
Although my countertops are now installed, I am not going to show anything but this until everything is finished.
This is the kitchen countertop
Here is what the bathroom looks like I thought it was going to be darker, more on the black side but I am getting used to the grey color. Now I definately have to re-finish my bathroom cabinets.

Doll clothes for sale
So, I am going to start making doll clothes to sell. I need help on what to call my new blog site. I thought about selling on Etsy but there are already so many doll clothes on that site, even though mine are much cuter! Here are the clothes that I made for Aubrey's doll again but I have more patterns now and plenty more designs will be available. CLICK ON ANY PICTURE to enlarge them all for a more detailed look.
