I miss you MOM

Today marks the 7th anniversary of my mom's death. I am extremely emotional and thought that by sharing this, might help to ease my sadness. I miss my mom horribly. I know she's with me all the time and I even still "talk" to her. I know she sees all the wonderful things going on in my life, like my 4 beautiful grandbabies, but still, it's not the same as having her right here for me to watch her rock them and sing to and tell stories to them. I know every person that has known my mom, misses her as well so here are just a few photos for you to enjoy. Love you mom!

IF ANY OF YOU HAVE A FAVORITE MEMORY OF MY MOM, PLEASE SHARE IT BY POSTING A COMMENT IN THE LINK BELOW.

My favorite memories of Oma....I have tons! I remember that I used to go to their Bountiful house every summer to spend the weeks with them. Oma & I would spend the day together. She would make me french bread with peanut butter on it and a glass of milk. Then we would watch Barney (even though I was around 12-she didn't make me feel dumb for liking it) and we would sing the songs together! I would sit at the kitchen counter watching her teeny little tv while I colored and it was always so much fun when a new package came to the door and I got to watch her open it to find yet another one of her collectible porcelain dolls-like the baby girl in pink, the Sherlock Holmes doll and her Sailer. Oma and I used to also travel to Denver on the 26th of December to spend a week with Rick & Julie and the fam. We did this probably 4 years in a row-just the two of us-she didn't like the plane rides but it was worth is in the end. I'm sure everyone can remember riding in their motorhome-laying in the bed above the drivers area and listening to "All my exes live in Texas". I can still hear her sing, hum and la la la it :> She often danced around the house la la la-ing "I wanna dance with you" too. She was always happy and I will always remember her and strive to be like her and my mom (who is very similar in every way). Love you!

I think I just figured out where Jack got his eyes from! He has his Oma's eyes! The look on her face in the first picture of her at 3 or 4 is a total Jack expression.
Ditto to Jenny's memories above, and then a couple of my own. When she lived in our basement, she would open the door to the upstairs and say, "Yoo-hoo! Valerie!" in her cute little accent. Jack and I now do that every time we go upstairs.
Another would be her incredible devotion to the Utah Jazz! She would come upstairs to watch the game and sit a chair right in front of the tv because she couldn't see very well. When it got really exciting she would scoot to the edge of the chair and say, "Oooooo! I'm sitting on pins and needles!" I miss you Oma and Opa!

Wow, it's hard to believe that it as been that long. My favorite memory is she and I would always hug but not just any hug..... Once the hug was in place we would do almost a dance or shake. I loved it!!!! Most of all I will never forget how she would take my Ashley in her arms hold her and dance and sing to her. Oma and I could also laugh at just about anything. For any of those who know me it doesn't take much to get me going. I am grateful for the memories and love she has always shown and still shows to me. By the way Opa I miss your smile!

I remember camping with them and one time she sprayed deodorant on her hair thinking it was hair spray. She goes, "Oh well. At least my hair won't get stinky!"
Playing Parcheesi in their motorhome. Camping with them in Oceanside, CA. Going to Colter Bay. The day Hunter was born, she came to the hospital and rock-a-bye'd him forever! Watermelon seed spitting contests. Her always sweeping the floor at our house to help Mom. And after everytime we left their house when we were really little, I remember her cleaning all the fingerprints and handprints off the sliding glass door. I could go on and on, but I'll end here. Great post, BTW.

Man, I miss Oma and Opa. I remember camping with them and one time in particular...One morning I was told by my parents to go see what Oma and Opa were doing and so I knocked on their camper door and Oma opened the door. She didn't have her dentures in and it kind of scared me. I wondered what happened to her teeth.I wish so bad that I could hear her laugh, her thick dutch accent and her speaking on the phone in dutch, or better yet, speaking dutch with me.... Ik houd van jou Oma en ik mis je heel veel. Ik weet dat we weer samen zullen zijn.

Mike and Camille took me, Bob, out to dinner at the restaurant, the one up by the canyon (the Broiler) when it first opened. Of course we could order anything on the menu we wanted (all comped) by Mike, so of course mom decided she wanted some lobster. Of course I had lobster too, but they prepared mom's to perfection and had it cut into bite size pieces for her and if you have never been there, well it is quite an experience! We were treated like royalty (Mikie is an important person there lol), mom was sooo impressed and nothing was held back as far as treatment! She took one bite of her lobster and closed her eyes and put her head back and started moaning in delight! We all just started laughing because she is dramatic of course....and then she said, "I think and angel has just peed on my tongue!" Mike has never forgotten that, we laughed so hard Mike started crying, and from then on, every time we eat lobster at the Broiler, Mike always says, "this is for you Oma, the same angel just peed on my tongue too!"

I meant to say Mike and Camille took Mom, me, Bob to dinner, I can't remember the occasion, probably nothing special.....just because he wanted to. And the peeing on the tongue was a GOOD THING! lol
